Niagara Falls: Canada vs New York

I'm in Niagara Falls for the first time, staying on the New York side. All of my friends told me to go to the Canadian side, because it's best side. So, with my hour of free time before beginning the TMS Family Travel Conference, I decided to walk along the water and take a look at the falls from both the New York and Canadian side. My ruling: Yes. The Canadian side is better when it comes to having manicured gardens and the best views of Horseshoe and Angel Falls. However, Niagara Falls New York understands they have some work to do to catch up to Canada in terms of attractions and a face-lift, and it's nice to hear they are working hard to bring Niagara Falls New York back to its glory days.

I recently attended the TMS Family Travel's annual Family Travel Summit in Niagara Falls, N.Y. It was my chance to speak with other family travel insiders about the state of family travel today. While we are happy to see more and more hotels, destinations, attractions and companies are catering the family traveler - and family travel is now the number one leisure travel segment - the biggest takeaway came from hearing Keith Bellows, editor in chief of National Geographic Traveler, speak about the importance of travel in a child's education.
